Strength

Five band exercises every runner should do.

Hannah Brooks

Strong hips protect your knees, shins and back. All you need is a resistance band and ten minutes, twice a week.

  • Banded crab walks: 3 × 12 steps each way

  • Glute bridges with a band: 3 × 15

  • Clamshells: 3 × 15 each side

  • Banded monster walks: 3 × 12 steps

  • Standing hip kickbacks: 3 × 12 each side

Do them after an easy run or on a rest day. When they feel easy, move up to a stronger band.
