Does kinesiology tape actually work?

Arjun Mehta

Colourful tape is everywhere in sport. The research says it doesn't do much on its own, but there are still times we use it.

When it helps

Tape can reduce pain for a short time and make you more aware of how you're moving. That can be enough to help you do your rehab.

When it doesn't

It won't hold a joint in place or fix a weak muscle. If you need tape to train, you need a plan to get stronger.
